Restoring the Room of Doom!
Small Bathroom Renovation: From Hidden Disasters to a Fresh, Functional Space
When our client moved into their new home, it didn’t take long to discover that the bathroom was hiding a collection of unpleasant surprises. Beneath the surface were leaks, blocked drains, damp and mould, a hidden showerhead concealed behind boxing, and a floor that was completely rotten.
While the space appeared tired, the reality was far more serious. This project became a clear example of why bathroom renovations should always be handled by experienced professionals, as the biggest issues are often the ones you can’t immediately see.
Stripping Back and Starting Properly
To resolve the problems correctly, the bathroom was stripped back to bare brick. This allowed us to fully assess the structure and rectify the underlying issues. The floor was completely rebuilt and levelled, removing both the damage and the uneven surface that had made the room uncomfortable to use.
The existing DIY plumbing layout was reworked and relocated to suit a far more practical design. Once the structural and plumbing work was complete, the room was replastered and redecorated in collaboration with Callum’s Decorating, creating a clean and fresh foundation for the final finishes.
Improving Ventilation and Longevity
Poor ventilation had played a major role in the damp and mould issues, so this was addressed as part of the renovation. A new extractor fan was installed to improve airflow and help protect the bathroom from future moisture-related problems.
A Bright, Space-Saving Finish
The finished design features space-saving grey bathroom furniture, helping to maximise storage while keeping the room feeling open. Marble-effect aqua wall panels bring a sleek, contemporary look, complemented by a bold pop of teal blue that adds colour and personality.
Along with a completely new layout, these design choices have transformed the bathroom into a space that feels fresh, functional, and inviting, with every detail carefully considered.
What was once a problematic and unsafe room is now a bright, well-ventilated bathroom built to last, proving that addressing the hidden problems is just as important as creating a beautiful finish.
